Boston Skyline Chorus is proud to have Wendy Pachter as our Director. Wendy brings passion, talent and extensive musical training to the role, and looks forward to an exciting journey working with the chorus to achieve great things. Wendy’s involvement with the Sweet Adelines organization began in 2003. She sang Lead with Hickory Tree Chorus in New Jersey, and later with Greater Nassau Chorus in New York. She was honored as ‘Woman of Note 2010’ for Region 15. Wendy and her family relocated to Massachusetts in 2011 where she has continued her involvement with the Sweet Adelines organization.
Throughout her life, Wendy has gravitated toward music education and performance to enrich her life and the lives of others. Since the age of 8, Wendy has played multiple musical instruments including flute, piano, saxophone and trumpet. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of Connecticut and a Masters Degree in Music Education from Montclair State University specializing in classical vocal performance. Wendy started her career as a K-12 vocal music teacher in public schools, and has also been a private voice and piano instructor. As a performer, Wendy has embraced diverse musical styles. She has performed and recorded as a member of Boston Jazz Voices, a classical vocal soloist, and for more than 20 years as a singer and bass player for Blue Train Bluegrass Band. She also plays bass with the jazz quintet, Sharp Five.
Wendy served as a Board member of Kodaly NJ, an organization to train vocal music teachers, and also served on the Board of the Wayland Cultural Council.
When asked to summarize her thoughts, Wendy said “I’m excited to have the opportunity to tap into and expand upon the talents and enthusiasm of the members of Boston Skyline Chorus. I know we will enjoy this musical journey together.”
